A keen entrepreneur, an enthusiastic and humble leader and a benevolent personality guided by steadfast ethical values, Dr. Ram Buxani is a social organizer, community leader, NRI spokesman, writer, stage actor, cultural ambassador and much more.

In addition to his role as Chairman of ITL Cosmos Group, he is the Director of several other corporations across the globe.

He is among the pioneer promoters of IndusInd Bank Ltd., India and was its Director for eight years.

He is the Chairman of Veeram International Ltd., BVI and Dubai, Chairman of Cosmos General Trading LLC, Dubai and is on the Board of IndusInd International Holdings Ltd., Mauritius and the Vice Chairman of Al Razouki International Exchange Co, Dubai.

Dr. Buxani is also on the Board of Sanjay-Gulf Industries Pvt. Ltd., and Cosmos-Sanjay Textile Mills Pvt. Ltd., Amritsar (Punjab), India.

Dr. Ram Buxani is a prominent spokesperson of the expat diaspora in Dubai and has played a key role in resolving their issues. Abolition of Estate Duty in India is a direct outcome of his untiring efforts.

Dr. Buxani was a Member of the Raunaq Singh Committee tasked by the Ministry of Commerce, India to identify a port with potential to be made a Free Port in India. The report of the Committee recommending Goa as a Free Port was lauded by the cabinet under the late Shri P.V. Narasimha Rao, the Prime Minister of India from 1991–1996.

Dr. Buxani is the Founder Chairman of the Overseas Indians Economic Forum (U.A.E), a prime NRI organization in the region until its merger with ‘Indian Business and Professional Council’ in 2003. Consequently, Dr. Ram Buxani played a proactive role in bridging the gap between the Government of India and the NRIs.

In addition to the all of the above his philanthropic involvement includes institutions such as the India Club, Dubai of which Dr. Buxani remained Chairman for 1991-94 and 2012-2015. Dr. Buxani played a significant role in preparing a temporary shelter for the refugees from Kuwait during the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in 1991, as they transited to India.

He was also Chairman of the Indian High School, Dubai, the biggest Indian school in the region, during 2000-2004.

Dr. Buxani was conferred doctorate Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) by the Washington International University for his thesis on the “Governance of Dubai: The influence of tribal tradition in decision making, especially in the critical periods of the development of the city-state”, in 2004.

One more feather on his cap – in 2015 Dr. Buxani was conferred the higher doctorate degree, the Doctor of Letters (D.Litt.), by one of the leading Universities – the D.Y. Patil University of Mumbai for his immense contribution for NRIs and victims of natural calamity.
